Aerial Survey, Ground Survey & Digital Mapping

Aerial/Ground Survey & Digital Mapping

Thank you to all of our clients who contributed to the success of the 2012 season.  We greatly appreciate your business and continually strive to supply superior products and services at a price point which provides real value to your individual projects.

AeroGeo continues to strengthen and expand it’s internatinal network of affiliates, enabling us to offer you an unrivaled level of service and quality on a global scale.

There are three primary components involved in creating 3-D digital data.  After acquiring new imagery (either by plane or by tasking a satellite)  AeroGeo staff either coordinate targets placed prior to the imagery capture or find natural points on the ground which must be clearly identifiable on the new photography,  Once this has been done, the images are digitally stitched together and then the entire block is triangulated and  transformed to fit the surveyed control points.

Now all of the imagery will be properly oriented to fit the “real world” or GPS coordinates.  Our stereo imagery is then viewed in 3-D and vector lines are captured which represent the ground with accurate X, Y and Z coordinates as well as all planimetric features such as drainage, roads, buildings, etc.  Once the surface of the ground has been mathematically defined, orthophotos are created by draping the georeferenced imagery over our new surface, which corrects the photos in Z (elevation) and provides accurate scale.  This “Ortho” imagery now has a defined scale and can be measured using a grid as you would measure from a map.

LiDAR is another emerging technology which is advancing the creation of 3D digital information.  Aero has flown many projects, including the entire city of Vancouver with densities of accurate laser points of up to 16 per meter.  We also conduct terrestrial LiDAR acquisition from the ground and are the Z + F  Western Canadian dealer for this exciting line of scanners.  Zoller + Frohlich are world leaders in Laser technology and for the past number of years have been building similar scanners for Leica.  Please call us for additional information regarding equipment purchase or to contract our services.
